OUR MISSION
Aunt Tina’s Kitchen & Sound Bites are unique food businesses. Our mission is to bring unity to our community through comfort food and music. In a world filled with so much division, we know that there are two things that bring all people together…food and music. We believe in UNITY and COMMUNITY, and desire to do this with Aunt Tina’s by serving delicious comfort food, along with feel-good music and an opportunity to connect with others!
About Us
What's in a name? A LOT, for us...
Owners Tony & Abbey Cannon started this business because they saw a need in their community. Owners of That Rub, a local seasoning blend company, they participated in vendor events throughout 2021 in the DuPage and Will County areas, and saw a consistent issue...a lack of food trucks in the area. As an interracial couple, they also have a passion for diversity and unity and are keenly aware of the deep historic roots of segregation within Chicago and it's suburbs. Because food and music bring ALL people together, this food truck has a mission to improve both issues, and
help connect our communities in UNITY.
Why Aunt Tina's? This business is a tribute to a very special family member. In December 2021, our Aunt Tina suddenly passed away unexpectedly. She had a deep love for both food and music. Her entire career was spent in the restaurant industry as a kitchen manager, and she hired Tony at 14 years old to work in her kitchen. She taught him everything he knows about how to cook and run a kitchen well. She was also an amazing singer, and often sang Aretha Franklin for karaoke during family get togethers. God clearly gave Abbey a vision that this business would be a tribute to Aunt Tina, who also loved people of all races and cultures. Aunt Tina’s combines food, music and unity for all people, all things Aunt Tina stood for.
